The Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy is a Baroque church that was once renowned throughout Malta as a major centre of prayer, devotion, and pilgrimage. It stands on land that formed part of the medieval hamlet of Ħal Lew, which originally belonged to the parish of Żurrieq. For a period, the church also functioned as the vice-parish of Żurrieq, before Qrendi was eventually established as an independent parish.
