Ta' Wied il-Għasel

€55.00

The Chapel in the valley of Wied il-Għasel in Mosta was built in 1656 beneath an overhanging rock ledge. Tradition holds that a holy man once lived in the cave and, after reproaching local shepherds for their behaviour, was chased all the way to the coast. There he is said to have placed his cloak on the water and crossed to Gozo. In time, the repentant shepherds built a chapel in the cave dedicated to Saint Paul the Hermit .
