San Nikola tas-Siġġiewi
In 1730, Siġġiewi parish priest Dun Salv Tabone commissioned Pietru Felici to create a stone statue of Saint Nicholas for the church square. Felici accepted the work for 70 scudi and completed the statue in 1732, earning great admiration from the villagers. Its success led to another commission: a wooden titular statue of Saint Nicholas, which was completed in 1736. Tradition says its silver staff was funded by sailors who had fought against the Turks.
