San Leonardu ta' Ħal Kirkop

€55.00

The veneration of Saint Leonard, Abbot of Noblac has a long tradition in the village of Ħal Kirkop. Devotion to the saint can be traced back at least to the seventeenth century, when the earlier parish church stood on the site before the present church was built in 1706. The wooden titular statue of Saint Leonard was crafted by the renowned Stuflesser firm of Ortisei, Bolzano, and brought to the parish in 1949. It replaced an earlier papier mâché statue by the Maltese sculptor Karlu Darmanin.
